Multi-frequency & Multi-epoch Vlbi Study of Cygnus A

We present the first multi-frequency phase-referenced observations of Cygnus A done with the VLBA at 15 and 22 GHz. We find a pronounced two-sided jet structure, with a steep spectrum along the jet and a highly inverted spectrum towards the counter-jet. The inverted spectrum and the frequency dependent jet to counter-jet ratio suggest an obscuring torus in front of the counter-jet. From 14 epoc...

Multi - Frequency VLBI Observations of NRAO 530

We report on VLBA observations of a γ-ray bright blazar NRAO 530 at multiple frequencies (5, 8, 15, 22, 39, 43, and 45 GHz) in 1997 and 1999. These multi-epoch multi-frequency high-resolution VLBI images exhibit a consistent coredominated morphology with a bending jet to the north of the core. The quasi-simultaneous data observed at five frequencies (5, 8, 15, 22 and 43 GHz) in February 1997 en...

A High-frequency and Multi-epoch Vlbi Study of 3c 273

We show results from a 7 year VLBI monitoring programme of 3C 273 at millimeter wavelengths. We find evidence for component acceleration, motion or rotation of fluid dynamical patterns, and an outburst-ejection relation between γ−ray flares and new jet components.

Probing the inner jet of M87; from the jet base to HST-1

The giant radio galaxy M87 accompanies one of the nearest Active-Galactic-Nuclei jets showing the intense radiation through radio to TeV gamma-ray. Its proximity and the large mass of the central black hole provide an excellent advantage to probe the sites of jet formation and gamma-ray production. Here we review some of our recent studies for the inner jet of M87 based on the multi-frequency a...

Ultraviolet Hst Observations of the Jet in M87

We present new ultraviolet photometry of the jet in M87 obtained from HST WFPC2 imaging. We combine these ultraviolet data with previously published photometry for the knots of the jet in radio, optical, and X-ray, and fit three theoretical synchrotron models to the full data set. The synchrotron models consistently overpredict the flux in the ultraviolet when fit over the entire dataset. We sh...
